Per the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS), beginning April 2, schools must complete a COVID test of all student athletes age 13-19 one time per week. Saginaw Township Community Schools (STCS) has partnered with Michigan Health Clinics to perform testing of our student-athletes for free. Student-athletes will be tested on Monday or Tuesday from 2:45 – 5:00 PM starting on Monday, April 5th. The athletic department will work with coaches on a testing schedule for each individual team.
Per the MDHHS guidance, testing is required for participation in athletics. Student-athletes cannot choose to opt-out of testing and still participate in athletics. Testing is mandatory for all student-athletes except those who are fully vaccinated –OR—have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days. Student-athletes who have tested positive in the last 90 must provide a doctor’s confirming the test results and date of test. Additionally, once those 90 days have lapsed, they would need to be tested.
While insurance information is collected, testing is free. Families will not receive a bill, there is no copay, and there will be no fees applied to your deductible.
More information will be shared at the Spring Sports Parents Meeting on April 6th at 7:00 PM. This meeting is mandatory for all spring sports families at Heritage High School. The meeting will be held virtually here: https://zoom.us/j/92694350444
